Icemusicfestival Oslo blir på Grefsenkollen 23 og 24 januar 2026. Vi lar naturen med sin (forhåpentligvis) snødekte skog gi en fantastisk innramming for alle konsertene med isinstrumenter. Instrumentene er bygd av naturlig frossen is og festivalen i seg selv er en hyllest til det viktigste av alt:naturen.
Icemusicfestival startet opp i 2006 på Geilo og dette er vår festival nummer 21 i rekken. Geilo, Finse, Bergsøjstølen og Ilulissat (Grønland) har vært våre arenaer.

En stille stund med natur-respekt-fred.
Vi kobler oss opp til en direkte stream fra Grønland der undervannsmikrofoner tar opp lydene fra havet. Hvilke hvaler og seler som blir med på denne konserten vet vi ikke. Kanskje kommer det også en båt?

Familiekonsert

Familiedag på Grefsenkollen.
Kerim H. Nisancioglu vil snakke om Grønlandsisen og vise hvordan det forskes på isbreens historikk. Vi vil også fundere på hvorfor noe is har god lyd og annen is ikke har lyd i det hele tatt! Kanskje barna aktiveres som musikere og forskere, men mest av alt blir det ismusikk framført av verdens eneste Ice Quartet!
Workshop: Før og etter konserten blir det mulighet til å møtes med forskerne Eivind Straume og Henning Åkesson fra Univesitetet i Oslo som vil tilrettelegge for aktiviteter utendørs for barn og unge som vil utforske og lære om is, snø og klima.
Opplegget passer for barn og voksne i alle aldre. En må ha konsertbillett for å delta på workshop.

Ice Quartet
Oppfinneren av ismusikk, Terje Isungset starta sin Ice Quartet for 3 år siden. De spiller musikk fra sitt nyeste album.
Det siste året har de turnert for utsolgte konsertsaler i England, Belgia, Luxemburg, Finland, Norge og Kina. Til Oslo kommer de direkte fra åpningskonserten av Oulu 2026 - European Capital of Culture.
Visste du at Ice Quartet trolig er verdens eneste ismusikkkvartett, og at Isungset starta med ismusikk for 26 år siden?

So we have decided to create a little Ice Music magic and stage a ‘mini’ festival in Oslo, Norway over the weekend of January 23 - 24 2026.
The mini festival will take place at the charming restaurant Grefsenkollen, nestled high up in the hills above Oslo. It offers one of the best views of the city, fjord, and the iconic Holmenkollen mountain, home to the famous ski jump.
The weekend concerts will be held in the nearby forest, and we’re hoping nature will complete the scenery by sprinkling a blanket of beautiful fresh snow over the pine trees.
The Ice Quartet will be performing, and the full programme and ticket sales will start on 1st November. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook for the announcement.
So, if you can’t make it to Greenland, we hope you can join us in Oslo!

We will connect to a live stream from Greenland, where underwater microphones capture the ocean’s sounds. We don’t know which whales and seals will perform, but there might also be a boat. For more information about the whales, visit diskolive.com
The evening’s main focus will remain the natural sounds of ice, accompanied by ice instruments on stage. Just pure nature!
The entire experience will be enveloped in Eivind Aarset’s captivating sound world.

Family Concert

Join us for an Family concert with Ice Music!
Kerim H. Nisancioglu will be discussing the Greenland Ice Sheet and demonstrate the research methods used to study its history. He’ll also delve into the fascinating phenomenon of how some ice produces sound while other ice remain silent!
Children will be encouraged to explore their musical and scientific talents, culminating in an ice music performance by the world’s only Ice Quartet.
Workshop:
Before and after the concert, researchers Eivind Straume and Henning Åkesson from the University of Oslo will facilitate outdoor activities for children and young people. These activities will allow them to explore and learn about ice snow and climate.
