Icemusicfestival Oslo blir på Grefsenkollen 23 og 24 januar 2026. Vi lar naturen med sin (forhåpentligvis) snødekte skog gi en fantastisk innramming for alle konsertene med isinstrumenter. Instrumentene er bygd av naturlig frossen is og festivalen i seg selv er en hyllest til det viktigste av alt:naturen.
Icemusicfestival startet opp i 2006 på Geilo og dette er vår festival nummer 21 i rekken. Geilo, Finse, Bergsøjstølen og Ilulissat (Grønland) har vært våre arenaer.

Vi kobler oss opp til en direkte stream fra Grønland der undervannsmikrofoner tar opp lydene fra havet. Hvilke hvaler og seler som blir med på denne konserten vet vi ikke. Kanskje kommer det også en båt?

Familiekonserten med isfakata og ismusikk!
Kerim H. Nisancioglu from the Universitet of Bergen / Bjerknessentert er en av de som kan mest om Grønlandsisen og klimaendringene som skjer der. Han har hatt flere forskningopphold midt oppe på grønlandsisen eastgrip.org
På en musikalsk måte vil vi sammen fortelle om hva som faktisk skjer på Grønlandsisen og hvordan det forskes på isbreens historikk. Det blir også muligheter til å stille spørsmål.
Før og etter konserten blir det workshops.
Opplegget passer for barn og voksne i alle aldre. En må ha konsertbillett for å delta på workshop.

So we have decided to create a little Ice Music magic and stage a ‘mini’ festival in Oslo, Norway over the weekend of January 23 - 24 2026.
The mini festival will take place at the charming restaurant Grefsenkollen, nestled high up in the hills above Oslo. It offers one of the best views of the city, fjord, and the iconic Holmenkollen mountain, home to the famous ski jump.
The weekend concerts will be held in the nearby forest, and we’re hoping nature will complete the scenery by sprinkling a blanket of beautiful fresh snow over the pine trees.
The Ice Quartet will be performing, and the full programme and ticket sales will start on 1st November. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook for the announcement.

We will connect to a live stream from Greenland, where underwater microphones capture the ocean’s sounds. We don’t know which whales and seals will perform, but there might also be a boat. For more information about the whales, visit diskolive.com
We’re also attempting to connect to a glacier cave in the Alps.
The evening’s main focus will remain the natural sounds of ice, accompanied by ice instruments on stage. Just pure nature!
The entire experience will be enveloped in Eivind Aarset’s captivating sound world.

Additionally, the talented musician Terje Isungset will improvise and contribute to the sound universe.

Family Concert

Join us for an Family concert with Ice Music!
Kerim from the University of Bergen and Bjerknessenteret is one of the experts on the Greenland Ice Sheet and the climate changes occurring there. He has conducted several research stays in the middle of the Greenland Ice Sheet, as documented on eastgrip.org
In a musical exploration, we’ll delve into the current state of the Greenland Ice Sheet and the research methods used to study its history. There will also be opportunities to ask questions.
Fun workshops will be held, before and after the concert.
This performance is suitable for children and adults of all ages. A concert ticket is required to participate in the workshop. Kerim Nisancioglu, along with his research team, will be present, while Terje will perform with the ice musicians.
