Ice Harvest 2026
Posted 23rd Feb 2026.

Ice Music needs ice and lots of it. Luckily we have a lake close by full of nature’s finest frozen resource! Karl & Emile managed a plentiful ice harvest on Sunday

Here’s quick video of Karl, and yes the ‘pyramid’ in the far background is the top of an iceberg about 2km away ❄️🇬🇱

All concerts will be held outdoors near the amazing Icefjord Centre. We plan to build an amphitheatre from snow so you are protected from the wind, but will still be able to see the stars and the moon.

The amazing Sissel Vera Pettersen, a versatile artist who combines creative vocal techniques with live electronic processing, will be accompanied by a special local guest singer from Ilulissat: Paninnguaq Jensen, who will be throat singing and performing Greenlandic lullabies.

We are also excited that Kalaallit Nunaat national star Miké Thomsen will be performing with both ice guitar and ice percussion!

There will be family & science workshops, along with an ambitious connection to a live audio stream from a glacier and the breathtaking Disko Bay in Greenland in a performance called The Wisdom of Animals - Let the Nature Talk. Check out the Disko Bay page for a list of the mammals we hope to hear.

You can buy tickets from our online shop

aluu! (Hello!) Ice Music fans.

It is not long before our 3rd Ice Music Festival in Kalaallit Nunaat (Greenland), which will take place in the wonderful town of Ilulissat on the west coast of Kalaallit Nunaat, located next to the world-famous UNESCO’s World Heritage Ilulissat Kangerlua (Ilulissat Icefjord), which is home to an epic array of enormous icebergs.

This year, the festival will take place from February 26 - 28, 2026, with a fantastic lineup of musicians and artists who will accompany the Ice Music Pioneer, Terje Isungset, for a series of ice music concerts. Please visit our Programme 2026 page for full details.

New WebsitePosted 15th October 2025.

We are pleased to announce our brand new website and revised URL which is now www.icemusicfestival.com (formally www.icemusicfestivalnorway.no).

Since 2006, our founding year, we have staged the Ice Music Festival in a number of locations: Geilo, Finse and Bergsjøstølen, which are all in Norway. In recent years we have wanted to expand the festival’s reach and have ventured to the west coast of Greenland, which has proved really popular.

Plans are to stage the festival in other countries too, along with the orginal country, Norway. The first of these plans will be a special weekend of Ice Music in Olso in January 2026. See what we are doing on our Ice Music Oslo page.

To ensure we don’t confuse, we have decided to drop the word ‘Norway’ from out website title and fix a more international.com domain.

We hope you enjoy our new website. If you have any comments or questions, please head over to our Contact page.

See you in Ilulissat and Oslo!
